Dear Store Member,
The SWCBA Regional is an opportunity for all members to learn and collaborate on topics and issues that are crucial to both college stores and associate members. We know your organization is committed to serving the college store industry, and we are convinced that your participation and collaboration with the SWCBA regional is essential to the continued success of the college stores industry.
We had nearly 120 store attendees at our last SWCBA meeting in Ft. Worth, Texas who were eager to share their new ideas and some old. Our shows have a history of mixing work and fun together creating phenomenal networking opportunities which will increase both college stores and associate members sales.
Susan Fiechtner from Texas A&M, College Station will speak to us regarding “Taking Charge of Change and Generational Differences” and she has graciously agreed to do a second session called “Understanding and Managing Stress.” I believe we can all make use of both of these wonderful sessions. Also, Steve Conway from Texas A&M, Galveston has an amazing “Survival Story” that actually happened to him which he will share with us.
We have shortened the show by one day to help cut both travel expenses and time away from your stores. The Education Committee has planned informative and entertaining programs for both stores and associates. Also, something new that has never been offered before are poster sessions on Saturday. These will be our vendors showing us what their companies are offering such as new rental programs, ebooks, and going green. This is a show you will not want to miss.
Southwest College Bookstore Association members who attend the meeting are responsible for making their own hotel reservations. The SWCBA will have a special group rate of $114.00 (plus appropriated tax) per night. Please identify yourself as a member of the Southwest College Bookstore Association by using the code “SCB” when making your reservations. Hotel reservations can be made by calling 1-806-291-3616. The hotel is also offering a complimentary shuttle service from the airport to all guests staying at the Doubletree.
We look forward to seeing you in Little Rock, AR, October 16 – 19, 2010. Attached to this email are the Education Schedule and the Store Registration form. All of this information will also be made available at www.swcba.com .
Sincerely,
Rita Widder
